Due to how rural the Peninsula is and lack of easy train or bus access, car rental is highly recommended in order to easily visit all recommended sites within Kunisaki.  A car will offer convenience and flexibility, including that of visiting nearby cities. However, be prepared for toll bridge costs.

From the nearby bigger city of Oita, it is approximately a 1 ¼ drive

From the popular Fukuoka prefecture, it is approximately a 2 ½ hour drive

Alternatively, there are bus tours and opportunities for tourists.
